As a favorite Croatian children’s writer whose stories have been a loved companion to generations of the youngest readers in Croatia, Mato Lovrak most certainly deserves this event.

This gift, in the form of a cultural programme organized in Veliki Grđevac, has been bestowed upon him by the folk of this town.

The event is largely dedicated to children, and for a few days Veliki Grđevac becomes the town of children, who gather in the Lovrak Centre, its concept based on motifs from the writer’s works.

The Kukavica Centre is the venue for various sporting events for primary school pupils, the presentation of awards and acknowledgements to primary school pupils for participation in the ‘I Love Croatia’ campaign, and creative workshops for the production of traditional souvenirs and items inspired by Lovrak’s stories.
